Statement

My painting practice originates from the nature of life. It is linked directly to life’s cyclicality, variability and unpredictability. The sequence method of applying paint develops through a long-term process. Its main element begins as a mechanism of chaotic color combinations that over time become arranged and acquire individual features. The surface of the canvas, whose size affects the duration of the process, is covered with cyclic movements of the paintbrush. Being a right-handed person leads me to start the process from the left side. Single sequences that I execute until they pass develop more complex arrangements of directions and rhythms. Once recorded, they impact the shape and process of further paintbrush movement series. They grow to create new, larger structures where each of them is subject to separate principles. Imperfect movements of the hand, disruption of attention or a drying paintbrush create further variables. These affect the process of painting and change it, just as small daily events impact the course of life.
